Originally from Holland, Alfred immigrated to Canada and has been enjoying living, and becoming a citizen of his adopted country for many years. For the last 20+ years he has actively shown guests this beautiful part of British Columbia (and Western Canada). While employed with one of the leading local Vancouver sightseeing companies he instructed many of their guides and drivers. In 2003 he started his own company to explore a “niche-market” for those visitors who prefer to enjoy private/customized excursions/transportation. This labour of love has been his passion for the past 15 years and has been a source of personal pride with its expansion. Having been born in the Netherlands he grew up speaking 4 Languages: English, French, German, and Dutch. This allows him a unique insight and ability to interact with our guests from various cultures around the world. An avid Football fan, he is passionate about the beautiful game and can quickly be engaged in conversation about the current state of the game worldwide
Born in Nova Scotia, this Maritimer grew up with a passion for nature, history and an urge to travel. He has been with Vancouver Private Tours for 6 years, bringing a breadth of experience in tourism from the previous decade. Float Tours in the Yukon, Backpacker, ESL, Ski and Sightseeing Tours on both the East and West Coast have helped provide a well-rounded knowledge of Canadiana. The oceans, mountains, and wildlife have all contributed to Matthew calling the West Coast home for the past decade. Having visited over a dozen countries, from Brazil to Kazakhstan, Matthew has managed to make, visit and maintain contact with friends from all across the globe. This allows him a unique perspective when discussing world affairs (and international cuisine). Combined with his time spent in the Canadian Forces, as a volunteer firefighter, a semi active lumberjack, and self professed geek, your time with The Tourism Ninja will always be interesting.
